Access to the Degree in Tourism for foreign students

Foreign students who are interested in studying our Degree in Tourism in Barcelona, have to meet a series of requirements that vary with relative frequency.  The most frequent cases are:

  1. Students who still haven’t begun university studies
  2. Students who have begun their university studies but haven’t finished them
  3. University graduates from a country different from Spain

For personalized attention or help in the interpretation of the information, contact the Department of Information for foreign students: ceta@ceta.edu.es

1. Students who still haven’t begun university studies

There are 2 different cases: students from a country member of the European Union and students from outside the Union.

→ 1a.- Students from a country member of the European Union who meet their country’s required criteria to access university studies will be able to enter a Spanish university  with no previous entrance test. The same criterion applies to Swiss students and students who have the European or Internation High School Diploma.
The process of document verification will be conducted by the National Distance Education University (UNED) which will issue a credential for university access.  To obtain such credential, students must apply for it on the Internet www.uned.es/accesoUE.
This access option is not compatible with other access paths. Those students who have already entered another Spanish university will not be eligible for this access option.

→ 1 b.-  Students from outside the European Union will have to validate their pre-university studies with those of the Spanish system. This can be done through the Spanish Embassy in their country or the Education and Science Ministry:

For more information, dates and the process itself, please check: http://accesnet.gencat.net

If the validation is equivalent to a High School Diploma, the student will have to sit the University Entrance Tests (PAU) through the National Distance Education University (UNED). For further information please contact UNED:

2. Students who have begun their university studies in their country but haven’t finished them

If a student has begun his university studies in another country, he can access the Catalan universities asking for recognition of those subjects already passed in his previous university. If this is the case, the student must present his application in the university where he wants to continue studying along with the following documents:

    1. Grades certificate
    2. Programme syllabus with a list of all the degree’s subjects and its duration, stamped by the issuing university.
    3. Subject’s programmes for each subject the student wishes to have recognized (these must also be stamped by the issuing university)
    4. Student’s ID (passport, etc…)
    5. Recognition application form (please ask for it in the following address: ceta@ceta.edu.es)

All documents must be official and legalized (diplomatically or via the Haya Apostille), these must be translated, if necessary, to Catalan or Spanish. The student must present the original document plus a certified photocopy.

If the university recognizes a minimum of 60 credits, the student will be able to continue with his studies with no further processes required. If the university recognizes 1 to 59 credits, the student will have to undergo the Pre-enrolment process*. If no credits are recognized, the student will have to follow the steps explained in 1a or 1b, depending on the case.

3. University graduates from a country different from Spain

If this is the case, the student will be able to apply for an official Spanish Diploma or a partial validation. Please note that both options are not compatible with each other.

    1. The partial validation must be done through the chosen Spanish university (see option “b” above)
